4.       Personnel contract (what they get and need to do)

6.       Location contract (find out what location rules are)
7.       Schedule sheet (times, who goes when)
8.       Risk assessment and Health and safety
9.       Location plan

1-    Detailed actor and personnel BRIEF (saying what you want them to do, look like and say)

       Pass: documentation will cover all the procedures relevant to the type of production being undertaken, but will be brief and lacking in detail. It should be organised sufficiently well for any particular document to be found with reasonable ease. Students will need assistance

       Merit: documentation will cover all the procedures relevant to the type of production being undertaken in some detail. It will be presented carefully and neatly, and will be organised clearly. Students may need some assistance 

       Distinction: documentation will be comprehensive and thorough with a detailed breakdown of all procedures  relevant to the type of production being undertaken. It will be very well-organised and presented to a standard that approaches professional practice. Students will work independently

Shaun of the Dead review - concentrating on British cinema

Shaun of the Dead review



1. Storyboarding and script - Think of the opening titles, there were lots of jokes but they were very different to Zombieland . How were they different?

2. Script - Give 2 examples of jokes in SOTD. Any that were similar or the same to Zombieland.

3. Script - Shaun of the Dead uses Black comedy or Dark humour which is very British. Give two examples of dark humour in SOTD and two examples in Zombieland that are not examples of dark humour.

4. Finance-  What was SOTD so much cheaper do you think? Think about the Mis-en-scene and actors.

5. Music - What did you notice about the type of music played in the opening and throughout? Any other music mentioned and why did they choose these types of music? 


6. Mise-en-scene - (not just the country!) what is very British about the different settings (rooms for example) they used

7. Language - Including the names of people,  give 5 very British examples.

8. British and Hollywood cinema - How is Shaun of the dead different and the same to Zombieland pick any parts and pick 4 examples?

Zombieland review -




Review in your own words, critiquing the film as well as saying what you enjoyed about it (200 words minimum)

Think of the some of the camera angles. Why would many of them be difficult in trying to film your own non budget Zombie scene?

Why do you think the film was so expensive to make (18 million pounds)?  Be detailed about Mise-en-scene.

What narrative structure did it have? (research narrative structures)

What parts of the film made you connect with the characters and what showed each of the characters caring side?


Give 4 main reasons with examples how this Zombie comedy is very different to Shaun of the Dead, concentrating on British vs Hollywood production styles.
