Research in the film industry - Deadline Friday 2nd May

Explain the different types of data collection and how the film industry uses these to help produce and market their productions. This data collection can be split into 2 parts

Quantitative, eg programme ratings, readership circulation figures, hits on a website, box office figures, sales of CDs and DVDs;

Qualitative, eg film reviews, game reviews, fanzine websites, attitudes to media products, responses to news coverage, responses to advertising campaigns, discussion

Explain what the difference is between,

Secondary research

What are the pros and cons of these two methods and how can they be used to research effective film productions?

Unit 2 - Communication Techniques assignment information

Assignment 1

You will need evidence that you have extracted information (sort of research) for the creation of your magazine.

This includes any reviews of films with annotations, the plans of existing magazine layouts, analyzing audience of magazines etc

Assignment 2

Create a presentation that is interesting (colourful, highlights, text, illustrations) market assessment, market analysis, product analysis, self-evaluation

This presentation must have correct literacy and grammar.

Assignment 3

Delivery of your presentation (8 minutes minimum). you will be marked on how you have held the audience's attention, made it interesting, how well you deliver it and your use of handouts/extras/ICT
